Why communities matter in Responsible Business
We care about elevating our communities, both business and social.
Socially, we create employment opportunities to help young people develop their skills and empower those less fortunate to map a new pathway in life.
Business-wise, we facilitate skills sharing and relationship building across our partner ecosystem through various events and fun get-togethers.
Creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation
We’re helping young people reach their full potential and seize career opportunities around the world.
Here are some of the ways we do it:
Learnership programs
We routinely invest in youth upskilling initiatives, including internships and work experience, that have propelled several participants into full-time roles. For example, some of our learners graduated into full-time positions at Westcon-Comstor South Africa (SA) or with our Supplier & Enterprise Development partners. We also ran a program with the LFP group to upskill disabled individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds within SA
Migrant Leaders
Westcon-Comstor UK teamed up with Migrant Leaders, a charity working with first- and second-generation migrants, to inspire and help them capture career opportunities. Over the three-day event, we taught six students about our business and the types of roles they might find in companies like ours
Cybersecurity Specialist Learnerships
We took 12 candidates through a 12-month program that earned them a level 4 Technical Support & Cybersecurity qualification
Supporting communities in need

We encourage philanthropy and volunteering from our team members to help communities experiencing hardship.
Here are some of the ways we do it:
Charitable donations
We donated $10,000 to the Care International charity, which tackles the systemic causes of poverty and gives people the power to change their own lives
Mandela Day Canned Food Drive
Westcon-Comstor South Africa employees took part in a canned food drive, collecting over 2,000 cans for Meals on Wheels
Rising Above the Storms (RAS)
Westcon-Comstor Africa entered a partnership with RAS which saw the provision of youth education, a computer lab for disadvantaged youth, and a year’s supply of sanitary products
Starship Children’s Hospital
Westcon-Comstor New Zealand became a Corporate Sponsor for the hospital, giving it a stronger identity for local charity partnerships and inspiring employee involvement
Transforming channels and fostering communities in our partner ecosystem
We mobilise our partner ecosystem to drive collaboration and mutual success through enjoyable activities and events.
